Experience Miner’s Day in Park City

Colorado Freeride Festival Begins July 26, 2012


Winter Park, CO - The first Colorado Freeride Festival will take place July 26-29, 2012. This will be the largest freeride mountain biking festival in the United States this year and will draw thousands of spectators to see the best of the best compete for more than $40,000 in prizes.

  • July 26: Training Day, all courses; Air Downhill
  • July 27: Specialized® Enduro stages 1 and 2; Shimano Slopestyle training
  • July 28: Specialized® Enduro stages 3 & 4; Shimano Jam Qualifier; Epic Singletrack XC; Shimano Slopestyle Finals
  • July 29: Specialized® Enduro stage 5; Intergalactic Pond Crossing; weather day for Shimano Slopestyle

    Slopestyle Course designer Kyle Ebbett has been battling the rain to get the course constructed and prepped in time, lending his design expertise to what is shaping out to be an incredible layout for this year’s Slopestyle race.

    Athletes in attendance include the current FMBA overall leader, Sam Pilgrim who will compete in the FMBA Gold Level Slopestlye Event as well as Brandon Semenuk who has won three Slopestyle events in Trestle Bike Park and has won the last two FMBA events held in July. Also attending will be Cam McCaul, who won the Slopestyle event last year. Winter Park Resort and Trestle Bike Park are excited to have Greg Watts returning strong after his rehab and injury.

    Competitors not to miss in the Specialized Enduro Stage Race include Ross Schnell, the defending champion at Trestle Bike Park, returning competitor and industry big name Mark Weir, as well as Nate Hills, the bronze medalist from last year’s Trestle Enduro event.

    Final spots for the Specialized Enduro Stage Race are filling up, so those who are interested in registering and have not yet are encouraged to do so immediately.

    Josh Turner to Play Belleayre Music Festival


    Highmount, NY - Multi-platinum country music hit-maker Josh Turner brings his top-notch live show to Belleayre. His latest chart-topper is "Time is Love," the first single from his new album. "All Over Me," the second single from his latest album Haywire, was chosen as BMI's 2011 "Song of the Year" and was one of ASCAP's "Top Five Most Played Songs." His previous single, the 4-week No. 1 hit "Why Don't We Just Dance," was the Most Played Song of the Year for 2010. The South Carolina native's other number 1 singles include "Your Man" and "Would You Go with Me."

    Since his 2003 debut, Josh has sold over five million albums and been nominated for two Grammy awards as well as numerous award nominations from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, Country Music Television and the American Country Awards. Josh Turner is currently one of the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry. More seats have been added to this show which promises to be one the highlights of the season.

    Christine Ebersole has captivated audiences throughout her performing career, from the Broadway stage to television, films, concerts and recordings. She received virtually every Off-Broadway award and her second Tony Award for Leading Actress in a Musical for her "dual role of a lifetime" as Edith Beale and Little Edie Beale in Grey Gardens. The show was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

    Other memorable stage performances include her Tony Award- winning performance as Dorothy Brock in the smash hit revival of 42nd Street, as well as Steel Magnolias, On the Twentieth Century, Dinner at Eight (Tony and Outer Critics Circle nominations) and the recent revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit. Ms. Ebersole has also appeared in many movies, including Amadeus, Tootsie, Confessions of a Shopaholic and last fal's hit, The Big Wedding. She recently completed a sold-out month at Cafe Carlyle.

    Top National Bands to Perform at Saddleback Bluegrass Festival August 10-11


    Rangeley, ME - The 3rd Annual Saddleback Mountain Bluegrass Festival will be held at Saddleback Ski Area in Rangeley Maine on August 10 and 11. It is an outside event for the whole family to enjoy. The stage is set up on the front deck of the lodge and the audience seating is in a natural amphitheater on the lawn and slope above, with views of the lakes and mountains. In each of the first two years a crowd of nearly 2000 came to listen, dance, camp and enjoy some of the best bluegrass talent in the country. This years festival features The Travlin' McCourys with Michael Daves, The Sam Bush Band, The Gibson Brothers, The Red Stick Ramblers, Della Mae, The Hillbenders, MilkDrive, Tricky Britches, Chasing Blue, Local Circus, and 317 Main Street Ensemble.

    2-day festival tickets are $40 through July 31st and $45 after August 1st. Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult. Day tickets are available at the gate. The 2-day camping fee is $5 for each adult and a $15 fee for trailers and RVs over 25' in length. Camping is available on a first come first serve basis in the parking lots as well as out on the ski slopes. There are no hook-ups. In addition to camping Saddleback has condominiums for rent. The festival will host food vendors, a barbecue, beer garden, coffee bar, plus the Swig N' Smelt Pub.
