New Webcams Are On The Way

Mount Ruapehu, NZ - There are big changes coming to our Webcams. We have five new static HD cameras with wide angle capabilities being installed at Whakapapa Ski Area.

The new cameras will be located -
- Two cameras will be installed into the new Knoll Ridge Cafe. One will be pointed east towards pinnacles and slightly uphill and the other pointed toward the top of the Valley also taking in part of Knoll Ridge T-Bar.
- One camera is to be installed in a location that will capture the Staircase slopes
- One new camera will be located in Happy Valley. This camera will be repositioned to inside the glass and point down the slopes more toward the bottom chairlift
- One new camera for the Western slopes. This camera will be dependant on network access, so is likely to take longer to install than the other four.

We are also working on getting the weather station information with wind and temperature information for you at each camera! There is a lot of work that will be going on behind the scenes to get these tasks done, as well as a few changes to the webcams page on MtRuapehu.com. GeoNet's camera looking up towards Whakapapa will also be available which means you will get a view from the Highway of what things look like as well as an on hill perspective of conditions.
