Top Riders at Seven Springs Mountain Resort Qualify to Compete at the Burton US Open in Vail

Seven Springs, PA - The Burton US Open Snowboarding Qualifiers presented by MINI concluded today after two amazing days of slopestyle and halfpipe competition at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania. At the event, the 10 best men and five women per discipline earned a piece of a $20,000 prize purse, and now advance to compete against some of the world’s biggest names in snowboarding at the 31st annual Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships presented by MINI in Vail, Colorado from February 25– March 2, 2013.

While the snow fell, top men and women put down some big runs during the halfpipe competition earlier today. Along with the winners from yesterday’s slopestyle event, they will compete at the US Open in Vail alongside world-class confirmed riders, including Kelly Clark, Mark McMorris, Torah Bright, Jamie Anderson, Iouri Podladtchikov and more.

The freeskiing portion of the US Revolution Tour begins Tues., Feb. 5. Designed to serve as a stepping stone for athletes making the transition from competing at the grassroots level to the elite level, the US Revolution Tour series pre-qualifies a portion of its field and then opens registration to any athlete, but is focused towards riders 13-19 years old and will award the top juniors an invite to be part of the US Grand Prix, Junior Worlds, the US Open, USASA Nationals, and participate in Project Gold camps. Some of these competitors can and will go on to the Olympic Trials!
