Loon Mountain Announces Significant Increase in Snowmaking is Centerpiece of $1.8 Million Capital Investment for Winter 2010-11

Other Improvements include State-of-the-Art Grooming, Additional Lift Capacity, New Loading Carpet for Seven Brothers Lift and New Zip Line

Lincoln, NH - New Hampshire's Loon Mountain continues its commitment to providing a consistently great guest experience with a capital investment of more than $1.8 million to further enhance its ability to deliver the best snow conditions and superior service for 2010-2011.

Already well known for delivering great snow conditions, Loon has invested an additional $1.2 million to augment and upgrade its impressive snowmaking system that covers 97% of skiable terrain.

An addition of 428 highly-efficient Low-E HKD tower snow guns will allow the resort to boost overall snow production by as much as 150%, as well as maximize snow output at a wider range of temperatures.

For skiers and riders, this will result in more terrain opening earlier, as well as giving the Resort a better ability to replenish snow and resurface terrain even more quickly when weather conditions are less than ideal.

A new Prinoth "Beast" grooming machine, with 40% more grooming surface and pushing power than a standard machine, will provide state-of-the-art snow surfaces at Loon this winter. The Beast, the first machine of its size in New Hampshire, and one of only two in New England, will allow for more terrain to be groomed better and more efficiently. In addition to providing superior snow surfaces, this will also help the Resort reduce its fuel consumption.

    Women's Droppin' In Snowboard Camp

Lincoln, NH - Loon Mountain's annual Women's Droppin' In Snowboard Camp takes place March 6-7, 2010 and is being presented by Oakley. The camp is designed for intermediate women riders, age 13 and up, who want to build their riding skills in the park, pipe and on groomed trails.

"This camp is all about learning to ride freestyle in the park, the pipe and on the trails in a super-fun, supportive and instructive atmosphere," commented Carla Hess, the camp's head coach since its inaugural year in 2004. "Whether you're learning your first ollie or looking to improve your current repertoire of tricks, this camp will help you achieve those goals and give you the building blocks to continue progressing, even after the weekend is over."

The weekend begins with a yoga clinic to get participants in the perfect mindset and condition for landing their new tricks. Then they'll move to the Oakley 'Goggle Bar,' where then can custom-build their own pair of goggles before they even take their first run.

A private park will be set up exclusively for Droppin' In participants, so they will have the perfect setting for concentration and learning, without the distraction of the activity in the big park. Each day includes a video review, so the coaches and pro riders can provide more feedback to each participant and participants can really see their improvement.
