50th Anniversary of the West Virginia Governor’s Cup Race Scheduled at Timberline


Davis, WV - The annual West Virginia Governor’s Cup Race will be held Saturday, March 6, through Monday March 8, at Timberline Four Seasons Resort. The event features two days of fun, racing, giant slalom, slalom and prizes.

West Virginia’s Governor, Joe Manchin, is scheduled to present awards to the racers at 2 PM, Sunday, March 7, at the Timberline Ski Lodge.

The event, organized by the Tucker County Alpine Festival is the oldest ski race in the South. Race registration begins Friday, March 5, 6 PM to 9 PM, and 7:30 to 8:30 AM, Saturday, March 6, at Timberline. Races begin at Timberline 9:30 AM on both days.

Timberline’s race staff, headed by John Lutz, will set up a challenging giant slalom race on Saturday and a slalom race on Sunday. On each day there will be two runs. and registration will be open until the day of the event.
