Park City Mountain Resort to Host Sprint U.S. Grand Prix January 30-February 2, 2013


Park City, UT - Park City Mountain Resort hosts the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix Snowboarding and Freeskiing Halfpipe competitions January 30 – February 2, 2013 in its Eagle Superpipe. Some of the world’s best snowboarders and freeskiers are expected to take advantage of the opportunity to earn points toward qualifying for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, which will include halfpipe medal events for both snowboarders and freeskiers. All events are free to the public and spectator-friendly.

“Park City Mountain Resort’s pipe is one of the best in the world and now that it is my official home resort, I am even more proud to compete here,” said Jen Hudak, a Park City All Star and Grand Prix Ski Halfpipe competitor.

2010 Snowboarding Halfpipe Olympian and 2013 Grand Prix competitor Louie Vito shared his own excitement, “I love coming back to Park City, home of the 2002 Olympics, for a Grand Prix. You take a great contest series like the Grand Prix and put it where the historic USA Olympic Sweep happened and it is just a cool feeling being there.”

Qualifying and semi-final rounds begin Wednesday, January 30, with Snowboarding Halfpipe Finals taking place Friday, February 1 and Freeskiing Halfpipe Finals Saturday, February 2. Also on the program, the Paul Mitchell Progression Session Big Air competition on Wednesday, January 30 is sure to be a fan favorite.
