Wilmington, NY - In addition to exploring both the 1932 and 1980 winter Olympic venues, visitors often come to the Wilmington/Lake Placid, New York region to experience the outdoors. This summer, beginning Friday, July 9, visitors will have the opportunity to take a half-day, guided hike of Bear Den Mountain.
Hikers will meet at the Whiteface Base Lodge and begin their trek, each Friday morning at 10 a.m., from the Kids Campus. During the three-and-a-half hour long hike to the summit, Whiteface guides will describe the mountain's natural history, plants and wildlife. Once at the top, the summit offers breathtaking views of the famed Ausable River, Adirondack high peaks, Whiteface Ski Resort and the town of Wilmington.
The guided hike is $65 per person and includes an official limited edition Whiteface High Sierra™ hydration pack (retail value $100) and a picnic lunch. Hiking boots are strongly recommended and children should be at least 12-years-old to participate.
