Covelli Leads Belleayre Orchestra In Evening of Romantic Classics

Highmount, NY - Love will be in the air as Maestro John Covelli leads the Belleayre Festival Orchestra in an enchanted evening of romantic classics on Saturday, July 17 at 8 p.m.

Maestro Covelli will conduct the orchestra and will also perform as a soloist on Tchaikovsky¹s Piano Concerto #1. Asher Raboy will serve as guest conductor.
It was 19 years ago that Maestro Covelli led the Brooklyn Philharmonic in the first concert in what would evolve into the Belleayre Music Festival. Few conductors on the world stage today qualify more than John Covelli as a performer of multiple talents and diverse experience.
At this year¹s festival, he performs as both conductor and soloist in presenting a concert of spectacular romantic orchestral favorites. The program includes Schubert's ³Unfinished Symphony² and Rimsky Korsakov¹s ever-popular ³Capriccio Espagnole.²

The virtuosic finale features Mr. Covelli performing a riveting rendition of the celebrated masterpiece, Tchaikovsky¹s First Piano Concerto. It is considered one of the most popular of Tchaikovsky's works and among the best known of all piano concerti. Van Cliburn won the First International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1958 with this piece, much to the astonishment of people worldwide, as he was an American competing in Moscow at the height of the Cold War. Maestro Covelli had a longtime dream of establishing a regional orchestra and he realized this ambition in 2004 with the creation of the Belleayre Festival Orchestra. He will lead this dynamic group at the July 17 show.
