Marchapalooza is Underway at Belleayre Mountain

Highmount, NY - Marchapalooza is underway at Belleayre Mountain so come on up to the Catskills and find out why this is our favorite month. Warm temps, great snow, soft bumps, and relaxing at a BBQ on the deck in the sun with your friends… there is nothing like spring skiing at Belleayre. It’s a taste of paradise, so very close and so affordable. Why go to St. Moritz when Belleayre is just right up the road. March is the month for skiing and riding and Belleayre has great deals for everyone. $20 Wednesdays, $25 Customer Appreciation Fridays, Potter Brothers Flex Sundays and the new 5 & 10 College Promotion make Belleayre the most affordable option for skiers and riders to get the most bang for their buck. People looking to stay over should contact the Belleayre Region Lodging Association because local hotels are offering great deals for Ski and Stay packages the entire month of March. And the Belleayre spring calendar is packed with fun family events for all ages such as the Pine Hill Arms Triathlon, the Tailgate Competition, the Dummy Race, the Cardboard Classic and Reggae Fest Weekend just to mention a few.

Can’t afford to go out West for a Spring Break Ski Trip? Don’t be jealous of your friends who go away. Bring the party to Belleayre for an affordable Spring Break Getaway. For the month of March, groups of 5 or more college students pay $25 per person, everyday. Bring a group of 10 students or more and get lift tickets for $20 per person. To participate in this promotion visit the Guest Services Desk at either Overlook or Discovery Lodge. Each person in the group must show a current valid college ID or a letter from the school’s Bursar’s Office verifying current enrollment.

Belleayre Mountain and the Center for Spectrum Services have partnered to present a special Ski for Autism Day to be held at Belleayre on Saturday, March 12, 2011. Belleayre Mountain has generously donated 200 specially-priced lift tickets to be sold by Spectrum Services with all proceeds to support the many programs that are offered by the Center for Spectrum Services to enhance the quality of life for children with autism and their families throughout the Hudson Valley. Special $25 lift tickets (first 200 registrants) will provide guests with a full day of skiing, as well as automatic entry into the Race for Autism ski and snowboard race taking place the same day. Purchasers interested in participating in the race can register on the mountain on the day of the event. Center for Spectrum Services will also be presenting an information table to increase community awareness and operating a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $25 and will be available on a first come, first served basis at Belleayre Mountain beginning at 8:00 a.m. on March 12th. The Race will begin at 10:30 on Yahoo. Helmets are required.

Happenings at Belleayre Mountain

Highmount, NY - It has been snowing at Belleayre for nearly a week straight and the mountain is in excellent shape. Throw in the fact the Northeast is scheduled to get another major winter weather event Tuesday into Wednesday, and that equals one thing – awesome skiing and riding conditions at Belleayre Mountain. Winter is in full swing and the Belleayre event calendar is packed with fun family events.

The Pine Hill Arms Race Series begins Wednesday, January 12. Join us for a fun adults only 10-week long race series sponsored by the Pine Hill Arms Hotel & Restaurant (845-254-9811). This friendly competition is run on the Yahoo NASTAR/Giant Slalom course. Registration is pre-paid of $55 entry fee and includes the race series and awards dinner at the Pine Hill Arms at the end of the season. Lift ticket is not included, but required and the minimum age limit is 21 years. Trophies go to the top 3 finishers, male and female, skiers and snowboarders.

On Friday, January 14 don’t miss Emerson Resort and Spa Day by the fireplace in the Garden Room of Overlook Lodge from 10am to 2pm. The Emerson Resort and Spa will have a masseuse onsite giving complimentary 10 minute massages to Belleayre patrons.

The Belleayre Cup Race will be held on Saturday, January 15 beginning at 10:30am on Lower Yahoo. This is a fun all-ages race for skiers and snowboarders. Registration will be held in the Garden Room of the Overlook Lodge and is $5 for skiers and riders age 18 and under and $8 for ages 19 and over. Helmets are required for all racers. An awards ceremony honoring the top male and female snowboarders and skiers will be held at 3pm outside of the Overlook Lodge.

On Sunday, January 16, the Coalition to Save Belleayre will be holding their annual Coalition Cup Race open to all skiers and boarders. The $10 Race entry fee is to benefit to Coalition to Save Belleayre. Helmets are required. An awards ceremony honoring the top male and female snowboarders and skiers will be held at 3pm outside of the Overlook Lodge.

Tap Into Winter November 13th at Belleayre Mountain

Highmount, NY - We have already had the first snow of the season at Belleayre and we are getting ready to Tap Into Winter for the 2010-2011 Ski Season on November 13, our anticipated opening date. Belleayre will again be offering our traditional opening day rate of $25 tickets and we will be having our annual Tap Into Winter Party if we are skiing and riding or not. Hopefully if Mother Nature cooperates, we will even have a couple of rails to jib on. Come on out and celebrate our favorite season with like-minded people who love snow. The Tap Into Winter Party happens whether we have snow or not, so come on up to the mountain for lounge specials, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment with Bob Grimm from the Four Seasons of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and to catch up with all of the Belleayre family members you haven't seen since spring. Belleayre 31st Annual Fall Festival and Craft Fair at Overlook Lodge this Weekend

Highmount, NY - The forecast looks great for this weekend so be sure to make the trip to Belleayre Mountain’s 31st Annual Fall Festival and Craft Fair on Columbus Day Weekend on October 9 and 10. The foliage is peaking as the mountains turn a blend of reds and oranges and there is no better way to enjoy a crisp October weekend than in the Catskills Mountains. This year’s Festival is going to be bigger and better than ever with an expanded entertainment/outdoor expo village including concerts by a number of local favorites including the local rock of Detour, the classic reggae of The Big Takeover, Belleayre regulars and favorites The Trapps fresh from opening for America at the Belleayre Music Festival and the alt-rock of Ratboy. The popular zipline run by Catskill Outback Adventure will be back this year and don’t miss the Gibbons Slackline Demonstration with two pro-athletes that will be open to the public as well. The Saugerties Fish and Game Club is sponsoring a fishing contest for kids 16 and under from 12-3 each day and will be donating a new rod and reel set-up for the winners. NASCAR fans will be excited to hear that the National Guard will be in attendance at the Belleayre Fall Festival and one of the many attractions they are bringing is the #88 Car that they sponsor. NASCAR fans won’t have trouble recognizing the number of fan favorite Dale Earnhart, Jr. Don’t miss the opportunity to have a picture snapped with this famous ride.

The 31st Fall Festival will feature an expanded selection of local artisans, craft vendors and food vendors that have been the core attraction of this long-standing popular event which traditionally draws around 5000 people per day. Food vendors will include traditional Jamaican fare from Reggae Boy Cafe, traditional Oktoberfest German fare food, Mama’s Boy café from Phoenicia, BBQ chicken, Russ’ Pulled Pork, along with fair standards such as funnel cakes, cotton candy, kettle corn, pizza and hotdogs. And this is the place to gear up for your winter sports because the Uber Winter Apparel and Ski Gear Sale will be back as well. Belleayre Festival Opera To Stage Rossini's Timeless 'Cinderella' Tale


Highmount, NY - On the weekend of August 28th, Belleayre Music Festival will be presenting our very own Belleayre Festival Opera’s fully-staged performance of Rossini’s Cinderella (La Cenerentola). This classic tale will be directed by Donald Westwood, who was recently appointed as Executive Producer for an international production of Oklahoma!, and whose productions have been heralded by The New York Times and the New York Post as exemplary and really unique. Donald Westwood, artistic director, producer, and stage director for the Belleayre Festival Opera, returns for the 12th year, bringing his unique comic vision to Rossini’s “Cinderella.” His shows are an annual festival highlight. This fully staged performance will be sung in English with a company of 45, including top soloists, Richard Tucker’s Community Chorale of the Catskills, and chamber orchestra conducted by Maestro John Covelli. All school age children and teens are invited to attend this performance free when accompanied by an adult. Opera News magazine has called Mr. Westwood’s shows “a dynamic alternative to the giants at Lincoln Center.”

FREE Children’s Opera Performance of the “Three Little Pigs”
On Sunday afternoon at 1PM there will be a free children’s opera performance of the “Three Little Pigs.”Several years ago, the Belleayre Conservatory commissioned Don Westwood to create a new children's opera based on the children's story "The Three Little Pigs." The opera had its world premiere in 2007 at the festival and received an enthusiastic reception from the audience. This interactive performance features music from great opera composers and lyrics and story by Mr. Westwood.

Aaron Neville and Quintet To Close Belleayre Season in Red-Hot New Orleans Style on Holiday Weekend


Highmount, NY - The 2010 Belleayre Music Festival wraps up in red-hot style when New Orleans favorite sons, Aaron Neville and his Quintet, featuring Charles Neville, hit the stage Saturday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m.
Aaron Neville's velvety croon is as instantly recognizable as any voice in modern music. From his signature 1967 hit, Tell It Like It Is, to his chart-topping duets with Linda Ronstadt on Don¹t Know Much and All of My Life, Aaron has enjoyed a remarkable career. He has collected 16 Grammy nominations and was twice named Best Male Singer in the Rolling Stone critics' poll.
Charles Neville's saxophone work spans virtually every musical genre and he has played with a who's who of musical giants. Throughout their long solo careers and as members of the group that bears their family name, the Neville Brothers proudly carry the torch of their native New Orleans' rich R&B legacy. The band's tight live shows are the stuff of legend.
The Neville Brothers played Belleayre six years and thrilled the packed house from opening note to rousing finale.

Belleayre Festival Opera To Stage Rossini¹s Timeless Cinderella Tale

Highmount, NY - Cinderella one of the world¹s most beloved tales, will be brought to life in a Belleayre Festival Opera on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m.
This fully staged performance will be sung in English with a company of 45 performers. Included will be top soloists who have appeared in many of the world's foremost opera venues, among them: the Baltimore Opera Center, Cleveland Symphony Pops Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Opera.
Artistic Director/Producer/Stage Director Donald Westwood returns to put his signature stamp on the timeless story of Rossini's Cinderella (La Cenerentola). In this variation of the traditional Cinderella story, the wicked stepmother is replaced by a stepfather, Don Magnifico. The Fairy Godmother is replaced by Alidoro, a philosopher and the Prince's tutor. Cinderella is identified not by her glass slipper but by her bracelet. The show will reflect Mr. Westwood's unique comic stamp.
Opera News magazine has called Mr. Westwood's shows a dynamic alternative to the giants at Lincoln Center.

Classic Rockers America Bring Anniversary Show To Belleayre

Highmount, NY - America, a band that dominated radio airwaves throughout the 1970s and whose signature folk-rock sound still resonates today, will bring its hit-filled 40th Anniversary Tour to the Belleayre Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 8 p.m.
Chart-toppers like Horse With No Name, Ventura Highway and Sister Golden Hair helped define a musical era. America recorded 11 hit singles and 17 gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums, making it one of the most successful bands of the era.
Founding members Gerry Buckley and Dewey Bunnell are in the midst of America's 40th Anniversary Tour that rocks with hits from start to finish.
The band's first album, America, was released to popular acclaim. A Horse With No Name struck a chord with listeners and the album catapulted to the top of both U.K. and U.S. charts by April 1972.

Belleayre Music Festival Kicks Off Jazz Club with Two Shows This Weekend

Highmount, NY - The Belleayre Jazz Club kicks off this weekend with two stellar shows guaranteed to please jazz aficionados. On Friday July 30 at 8pm, tenor saxophonist Javon Jackson leads his renowned quartet with special guest the legendary Jimmy Cobb on drums. Javon Jackson rose to international prominence as a member of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and has since fashioned his own signature sound. In addition to Blakey, Javon has contributed his smooth jazz style on tours and records with luminaries like Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Betty Carter, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Donald Byrd and Curtis Fuller. Javon has appeared on over 125 recordings and has developed a formidable career as a leader. The innovative drummer legendary Jimmy Cobb, known for his work with Miles Davis on the album "Kind of Blue", will join Javon Jackson in launching the 2010 Belleayre Mountain Jazz Club Series. Tickets are $25 for general admission.

Saturday, July 31 at 8pm jazz violinist Regina Carter will grace the stage of the Belleayre Jazz Club. Acclaimed as one of the most transcendent voices of contemporary violin, Regina Carter brings her tenacious force to Belleayre and will showcase her new release, "Reverse Thread". This recording is her latest contribution to the world of contemporary jazz, offering an uplifting and stirring perspective on music from home and around the world. Known for her original compositions and collaborations with many jazz greats, Regina was the first jazz player allowed to play and record with Nicolo Paganini's treasured Guarneri del Gesu violin. Tickets are $25 for general admission.

Escape the Heat of the Hot Summer at the Belleayre Beach!


Highmount, NY - Continued record heat not seen in over a decade has made this summer at the Belleayre Beach one of the busiest ever and there's little relief in sight as the temps are supposed to remain in the 80s and 90s! Temperatures in the mountains are on average almost 10 degrees cooler than most concrete and asphalt urban areas! Summer is in full swing in the Catskill Mountains and there’s no better place to relax and chill out with a family picnic, swimming, boating, fishing, playing volleyball, horseshoes or beach games at Belleayre’s well manicured day use area. Belleayre also offers Red Cross Certified Swim Lessons for all ages. The cost to enter the day use area is $8 per carload and $20 per bus; weekend hours are from 10am- 7:30pm and weekday hours are from 10am – 6pm. So head for the mountains and beat the heat chilling out with us!

Charlie Daniels Band to Rock Belleayre July 24

Highmount, NY - Southern rock icon and legendary fiddler, Charlie Daniels brings his blistering live show to the Belleayre Music Festival stage on Saturday, July 24 at 8 p.m. for an evening of flat-out fun and old-fashioned rock jamming.
Hard-charging anthems like The Devil Went Down to Georgia and The South¹s Gonna Do It are among the signature tunes that propelled the Grammy-winning band to international success and more than 20 million albums sold in a career that spans half-a-century. Those hits and many more will be rolled at Belleayre in an evening filled with fast-paced fiddling and sizzling guitar.
Charlie's music blends rock, country, bluegrass, blues and Gospel that is quintessentially Southern and universally enjoyable.
Charlie broke through as a record maker with 1973¹s Honey In the Rock and its hit hippie song Uneasy Rider. His rebel anthems like Long Haired Country Boy shot his 1975 collection Fire On the Mountain to double-platinum status.

Hip Singer-Songwriters Joseph Arthur & Meghan Wolf Play Belleayre July 16

Highmount, NY - Hip singer-songwriters Joseph Arthur and Meghan Wolf will offer tantalizing blend of innovative tunes at the Belleayre Music Festival on Friday, July 16 at 8 p.m.
Joseph Arthur's one-man band show draws rave reviews wherever he plays. Utilizing looping techniques and an array of effects pedals, he create a full instrumental accompaniment for penetrating songs.

Joseph is smart, surprising and infinitely rewarding, constantly stirring the imagination with his writing and playing. He will also be painting during his amazing musical showcase.
A painter, a soloist and songwriter, Joseph¹s prodigious talents prompted Peter Gabriel to personally sign him to his record label. He has toured with the likes of R.E.M., Ben Harper and Gomez and has had his song ³In the Sun² covered by Chris Martin of Coldplay and Michael Stipe of R.E.M. and remixed by Justin Timberlake.
On her first album, Theory of Gravity, and Meghan Wolf debuts a musical presence that is both down to earth and cosmopolitan ‹ blending organic rhythms and soulful lyrics with modern beats and an urban vibe.
Her penetrating vocals and impassioned performance recall virtuosos Joan Baez and PJ Harvey, with contemporary undercurrents of Radiohead and Morcheeba.
Meghan's flair for performance is underlined by the fact that she has already built a successful career as an actor, with appearances on Law and Order, The Education of Max Bickford, All My Children and in numerous commercials.

Covelli Leads Belleayre Orchestra In Evening of Romantic Classics

Highmount, NY - Love will be in the air as Maestro John Covelli leads the Belleayre Festival Orchestra in an enchanted evening of romantic classics on Saturday, July 17 at 8 p.m.

Maestro Covelli will conduct the orchestra and will also perform as a soloist on Tchaikovsky¹s Piano Concerto #1. Asher Raboy will serve as guest conductor.
It was 19 years ago that Maestro Covelli led the Brooklyn Philharmonic in the first concert in what would evolve into the Belleayre Music Festival. Few conductors on the world stage today qualify more than John Covelli as a performer of multiple talents and diverse experience.
At this year¹s festival, he performs as both conductor and soloist in presenting a concert of spectacular romantic orchestral favorites. The program includes Schubert's ³Unfinished Symphony² and Rimsky Korsakov¹s ever-popular ³Capriccio Espagnole.²

The virtuosic finale features Mr. Covelli performing a riveting rendition of the celebrated masterpiece, Tchaikovsky¹s First Piano Concerto. It is considered one of the most popular of Tchaikovsky's works and among the best known of all piano concerti. Van Cliburn won the First International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1958 with this piece, much to the astonishment of people worldwide, as he was an American competing in Moscow at the height of the Cold War. Maestro Covelli had a longtime dream of establishing a regional orchestra and he realized this ambition in 2004 with the creation of the Belleayre Festival Orchestra. He will lead this dynamic group at the July 17 show.

Broadway Superstar Patti LuPone Brings Soaring Vocal Talents to Belleayre


Highmount, NY - Patti LuPone, one of the brightest stars in Broadway history, will display her soaring vocal talents in the intimate setting of the Belleayre Music Festival on Saturday, July 10 at 8 p.m. Patti made a triumphant solo concert debut at New York¹s Carnegie Hall in ³Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda,² resulting in a sold-out encore performance and she will perform this show at Belleayre.

Patti has carved out an impressive resume covering the entertainment spectrum. Her most recent plaudits came with she swept the 2008 theatre awards, including the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Actress in a Musical and the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance for her role as Rose in ³Gypsy.²
These honors were the latest in a series of awards that began when Patti catapulted to Broadway superstardom as ³Evita,² earning the 1980 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Actress in a Musical.

During the past three decades, Patti has fashioned an unparalleled Broadway resume and has also garnered critical acclaim for her impressive list of TV and film roles.
Patti¹s movie credits include ³State and Main,² ³Summer of Sam,² ³Driving Miss Daisy² and ³Witness.²

Super Early Bird Belleayre Mountain Season Passes Go On Sale 7/1!

Highmount, NY - Although July might seem a little early to start thinking about snow, Belleayre Mountain will begin to sell season passes for the 2010-2011 skiing and riding season and this summer is the time to buy and save.
While season pass prices are going to remain the same price as last year and the usual early bird prices of $50 off are in effect through 11/30/2010, people who buy their Belleayre season passes this summer will reap additional rewards and added value perks. Early bird adult season passes are going to be selling for $676 but people who buy in July will get an additional 20% off the price. That’s only $540 dollars for a full adult pass with no blackout dates. Junior passes are only $172, senior passes are $468, and college students who produce proof of enrollment with a letter from the school’s bursar’s office will only be $203 for a full season pass. Belleayre Beach Opens Full Time for Summer Saturday, June 19


Highmount, NY - When Belleayre Beach opened for the summer of 2010 Memorial Day Weekend as it has every year since 1993, one thing was different; the record setting crowds that showed up to enjoy the facility. Stellar Memorial Day Weekend weather led to a record setting Sunday when almost 700 people came out to swim, boat, fish, hike, picnic and just lounge around the well manicured park in Pine Hill at the base of Belleayre Mountain. The Belleayre day use area offers facility amenities such as a white-sand swimming beach, kayak and paddle boat rentals, BBQ facilities and rentable pavilions with electricity and grills for private parties, reunions and other gatherings.

The Belleayre Beach at Pine Hill Lake opens full-time for the season on Saturday, June 19; weekend hours are from 10am- 7:30pm and weekday hours are from 10am – 6pm. This is the third year that the Red Cross Certified Aqua School at Belleayre Beach will be selling aquatics programming for children and adults. Be sure to visit Belleayre's website for class and specialty workshop listings; registration is currently open. On weekends Eco-Adventures are scheduled throughout the summer, offering local nature activities free of charge to all guests such as making walking sticks, informative talks about nature, the Junior Naturalist Program for Kids and more. The Junior Naturalist animal of the year is the snapping turtle and all graduates of the program receive a patch with a snapping turtle on it. Come and discover what a hidden gem this park is. The cost to enter the day use area is $8 per carload and $20 per bus. Swimming, boating, fishing, picnics and beach games are all affordable summer fun for the whole family!
