Wilmington, NY - Snowmaking has started at Whiteface, in Wilmington, N.Y., for the 2010-11 season. Guns and hoses are creating the white gold and snowmaking continues around-the-clock as temperatures permit. The early snowmaking, which began Thursday, Nov. 18, is taking place on Excelsior, Upper Valley, Lower Valley and Fox. ORDA invites media to get an up-close look, Wednesday, Nov. 24; at 9 a.m. Weather permitting, skiing and riding will begin on Friday, Nov. 26.
