New Challenges for Everyone at Stoneham This Winter

Stoneham, PQ - Stoneham Mountain Resort pulled out its heavy artillery this fall to offer three big on-mountain changes for the upcoming season! Nobody will be left out since each new feature concerns different skill levels and needs! New glades, lengthening of the Olympic half pipe and a redesigned pre-opening party are expecting you this winter at Stoneham!

NEW FOR FAMILY – Intermediate glade located in the Family Zone
With the development of two new glades for the upcoming winter, Stoneham bumps up its number of runs to 41, including 10 glades for different skill levels. La Biche [French word for “doe”] is one of them and will be located in the Family Zone of the mountain [in the detachable quad chairlift area]. An intermediate run, this new glade will be added as a neighbor to 3 other recent similar glades suited for all; La Caribou, La Wapiti and L’Orignal. Families and glade lovers will be spoiled by the number of choices in this family mountain section!

NEW FOR THE MORE ADVENTUROUS – Expert glade for an adrenalin rush!
L’Urubu [name of a bird of prey] offers a new challenge for skiers and riders in search of thrills! This new glade classified as a double-black diamond offers a 300 meter ride on an exciting vertical drop. On top of these two new trails, Stoneham’s team is keen to build a 3rd one for winter 2013/2014.

NEW FOR FREESTYLERS – Olympic half pipe gains 15 meters
During this special year in which the LG/FIS Snowboard World Championships will be held at the mountain [a first edition in the whole province!], the resort wants to raise standards in all courses, particularly in regards to its Olympic half pipe. Being already an official National Training Center, the infrastructure will be extended by 15 meters uphill [for a total of 145 meters long], which will allow professional athletes to squeeze in an extra jump for every run. This also means additional hits for all skiers and riders!
NEW FOR PARTY ANIMALS – The Bud Light STOPEN celebrates the season to come on November 23
True to its tradition, Stoneham offers a memorable party at the mountain the week before its opening! This winter, the BL STOPEN is a redesigned concept, in which the traditional rail jam will be followed by a competition with cash prizes. A Pull-In underwear show will also take place indoors in a new atmosphere, following the presentation of ESK MEDIA and BROTHERS FACTORY new ski and snowboard freestyle movies. To keep the party going on all night, the resort will also host DVBBS, a popular DJ act that opened for the LMFAO concert during the Québec City summer Festival this past July.
