Windham Mountain is Going Out with a Bang

    Come Together at Windham

Windham, NY - Winter is not yet finished here in the Northern Catskills. Look for some snow Thursday night into Friday before a high pressure system takes over for the last week of March. A dry cold front will slip through on Thursday, and temps will turn quite cold for late March by Friday. The weekend looks nice for spring skiing/riding (and Pond Skimming) with sunshine and temps in the 40's during the day. Nighttime temps in the 20's will help set up the snow and make for great spring conditions once the sun and warmer temps hit the snow in the morning. These weather conditions will keep the snow consistency firm in the morning and gradually softening through the day. This is a great pattern because the snow doesn't get too heavy by early afternoon - we call it 'hero snow'.

Pond Skimming will be here on March 27th-if you haven't participated before, this is your chance! Sunny skies and great temperatures will make this event a blast this year - the grooming staff will work all morning to construct a 75' pond out in front of the lodge. Join us around noon - even if you don't want to participate, this is a must see! And, don't forget, DJ Pat del will be on the patio starting at 10am Saturday and chair and table side drink service is still being offered, featuring $3 drafts! Come soak up the sun and spring skiing with Windham Mountain!

Better Late Than Never, So They Say

Windham, NY - It may be late February, but Mother Nature is all about Winter. A series of weather systems are going to bless Windham Mountain with snow every day this week, and may dump THREE FEET of white powder by Saturday - this could be our biggest single storm snowfall since 2007! We've already gotten 5"-6" and it just keeps coming! If you love fresh snow like we do, plan a trip to Windham Mountain and the Catskills for super midwinter conditions. We'll update you later this week on conditions for the weekend, but right now all we see is SNOW in the forecast.

Saturday Nights Alright for Skiing and Boarding

Windham, NY - OK, we stole the subject line for this message from Elton John and changed it to suit our purposes. Actually, Friday is all right for skiing and riding at Windham Mountain, too. More than all right, it's a BLAST! So this is a heads up: winter goes fast. There are only five more weekends of night skiing and riding, and all of Presidents' Week. Sieze the day, er, night. The adventure park is also open Friday and Saturday nights for snow tubing, ice skating, the rock climbing wall and the new Snow Ball. It feels so right under the lights!
Speaking of lights, have you heard about Friday Night Lights? It's Windham's new race series on the NASTAR course. Put together a team, race against other teams and enjoy a great apres ski scene at Legends afterward. Legends will also be the site of another great band, The Gyst, this Saturday at 3pm. On Sunday, a fundraiser for the Northern Dutchess Hospital Foundation will be another opportunity to hit the NASTAR course. Slope Spies from Clear Channel will be here giving away prizes.

Windham Community Reaches Out to Those in Need

Windham, NY - Recent news has reminded us of how easily our daily lives can be disrupted and how impressively a community can rally to support those in need.

Locally, the town of Ashland (right next to Windham) lost its town hall and fire house in a major fire. The cost to replace the facilities and equipment is expected to be over $1 million. Insurance money will not come close to meeting that cost, as the new facilities will need to be built to updated standards. Windham Mountain would like to help, and we hope you can join us. This Saturday, every ticket window at the mountain will be accepting donations. The resort will match those donations up to $1,000. If you can't make a donation in person, you can mail one to The Town of Ashland Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 129, Ashland, NY 12407.

On a much larger scale is the tragedy of the earthquakes in Haiti. As a company that employs workers from all over this hemisphere, we have a strong sense of solidarity with and empathy for our neighbors to the south. On Saturday, January 23, donations will again be accepted at the resort's ticket windows, matched up to $1,000 and given to the American Red Cross. We thank you in advance for anything you can give.

You'll Go Head Over Heels for Zorbing

Windham, NY - Zorbs have officially invaded the Windham Mountain Adventure Park. While it may sound like an alien creature, a zorb is actually a large, inflated ball in which two passengers can roll around, hamster style. Oh yeah, admit it, you've been jealous of those cute little rodents all these years.
We debuted the zorb during the holiday period and it was a huge hit. See for Yourself how much fun it is, and think about giving it a spin. Coming soon: a second zorb with LED lighting for wild nighttime rides. It's just another outdoor recreation innovation from the people who brought you the first Big Air Bag in America. Come out and play!
