Snowshoe Mountain is Extending the Season

With Epic Snow Conditions, the Region’s #1 Resort Plans to Remain Open Through April 5th with Great Spring Savings
Snowshoe, WV - Snowshoe Mountain Resort announced today that it plans to remain open through April 5th to take advantage of the best snow conditions in the resort’s 36-year history. This will give skiers and riders an extra week to enjoy the region’s #1 resort. Snowshoe also announced that the extended season will include big savings for skiers and riders getting in those last turns of what have been a truly incredible season.
Snowshoe has seen more than 158” of natural snowfall this season, leading to some of the best conditions in the resort’s history. Much of that snowfall has come in the last two months—including more than 39” in the last week—and the resort is currently boasting base depths of more than 4 feet across the region’s most expansive terrain. The mid-Atlantic and Southeast have seen record snowfalls, and regional skiers and snowboards have flocked to Snowshoe to take advantage of western resort skiing close to home.

And those snow lovers will be treated to big savings during Snowshoe’s extended season, as the resort is offering free lift tickets with a two or more night stay between March 28th and April 5th. Skiers and riders will also benefit from $15 rental equipment, and anyone showing a season pass from any other ski resort will be treated to a $20 lift ticket. Similarly, Snowshoe is confident that anyone visiting the resort will fall in love, so they’re offering to put the price of a one-day, discounted extended season lift ticket towards the purchase of a 2010-2011 winter season pass.

Mountain conditions are at all time highs, from over the head powder on the Hobacks to fresh groomed corduroy on Sundance and Gros Ventre. The hollering of skiers leaving trenches behind them down Rendezvous Bowl was audible across the hill.

A Foot of Fresh and SIA comes to Denver!

Georgetown, CO - Although we didn't get quite the snow the southern mountains did, over a foot of fresh snow fell on Loveland this past week. Slowly but surely the mountain is filling in and making for some excellent skiing and riding conditions. Saturday Nights Alright for Skiing and Boarding

Belleayre Presents Winter Festival Week and 'Taste of the Town'

Snowbowl Prepares for National Safety Week

Flagstaff, AZ - The National Ski Area Association's 11th annual National Safety Week is January 16-22, 2010. During the Week, over 50% of the 326 member ski resorts participate in many different ways to encourage slope safety.
During the 2008-2009 winter season, the Arizona Snowbowl's Safety Committee, which is employee driven, came up with the phrase, BAAH! (Be Alert, Accidents Hurt) and stars Sammi and Stella, the Safety Sheep. Their efforts earned them their first ever National Safety Award for the Best Overall Safety Program for 2009.
This year, Snowbowl is planning to kick off National Safety week activities on Saturday January 16, 2010 with their new "Safety Camp" as the center piece of the event! They will have activities for all ages, engaging employees and guests to think about safety both on the slopes, in the lodges and at work. During Safety Week, children and young adults will be asked of their knowledge of the skier/rider responsibility code "Winter Rules!". Those that know the "Winter Rules" or learn the rules will receive a "Safety Pass", which will entitle them to discounts in the lodges and at our mountain retail shops. Sugar Bowl Celebrates 70 Years of Skiing and Boarding

Donner Summit, CA - Since 1939, Sugar Bowl Resort has offered some of the finest skiing and riding in the Tahoe region. To celebrate 70 years atop Donner Summit, the venerable resort will host a weekend of festivities January 29th – 31st, including special lift ticket rates, prize giveaways, apres music, on-mountain trivia challenges and an official opening ceremony for the new Summit Chair. January Will be Jamming at Belleayre

Highmount, NY - Conditions are perfect on the slopes of the Belleayre Ski Center and besides the great skiing and riding, there are plenty of other attractions in store this January at New York's Winter Snow Park.
On Wednesdays, Belleayre offers $20 lift tickets with $10 rentals all month long. This will lead us into our annual Winter Festival Week at the end of the month where lift tickets will be $20 and rentals $10 from January 25th through 29th.
This Friday, Belleayre will again offer Customer Appreciation Day with $25 lift tickets. What a great way to start the long, holiday weekend. Ruby Hill Rail Yard in Denver Opens

Denver, CO - Winter Park Resort announces the earliest recorded opening day of Ruby Hill Rail Yard, Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 12 p.m. Ruby Hill Rail Yard is a free urban terrain park for skiers and snowboarders, located at the intersection of Platte River Drive and Jewell Avenue in Denver.
“With Ruby Hill we’re able to bring the mountains to the metro area, to the backyards of city dwellers that may not otherwise have the chance to experience rails on a regular basis,” said Bob Holme, terrain park and youth marketing manager at Winter Park Resort. “Plus, this is a great way to give back to a community that has supported Winter Park Resort for the past 70 years.”

This is the earliest opening for Ruby Hill since its inception in 2006. The rail yard will be open through the end of February, weather permitting. To prepare the park, snowmaking equipment has pumped more than an acre of snow and a snowcat, on loan from Winter Park Resort, is putting the final grooming touches on the terrain park.
Ruby Hill is a result of the partnership between Denver Parks and Recreation, Christy Sports and Winter Park Resort. Winter Park provides the rails, terrain park design and staff; Chirsty Sports provides free rental equipment; and Denver Parks and Recreation provides youth programs. Thirty volunteers and private donations also help make the terrain park possible.
