Reno, NV - Mt. Rose has received 16-18" of fluffy deep snow, giving us a storm total of 53-62"- and it continues to dump! At 8,260' Mt. Rose received ALL SNOW throughout the storm.

Windspires Bring Green Energy to Mt. Rose for 2010-11

Windspires Are Being Installed at Mt. Rose Nov. 3rd at 12PM

Reno, NV - A significant improvement to Mt. Rose for the coming season will be the addition of renewable energy sources to the Winters Creek Lodge. Three "extreme weather energy windspires" will be installed on the north side of the facility between the parking lot and the walkway to the lodge. The intent is to use the wind's power to provide electricity to off-set some of the electrical costs of the new lodge. For example, these three windspires should cover the lighting costs of the Winters Creek Lodge for the upcoming season. Installation is planned for November 3rd at 12 noon.

The average wind speed at the Slide Bowl of Mt. Rose is 14 mph, but these "extreme" windspires are designed to handle winds up to 160 mph. Extensions on these spires will make them 30' tall to take snowpack into account.

Mt. Rose – Ski Tahoe Wins a NACE Award

Reno, NV - Ski Tahoe just recently took home a National Association of Catering Executives award at the Reno-Tahoe NACE Tabletop & Confectioners Competition held in the Reno Ballroom March 30th. Mt. Rose won 1st place in the under $500 Day Category with the theme “Mt. Rose Sunshine”.
The Mt. Rose table featured a modern standard house set as the base of the design. Bengaline Moire Platinum Floor length linens (featuring an exclusive texture considered to be an upscale linen) paired the square table, unique modern chairs, square china and flatware.

"Free Seniors Only Clinics"

Incline Village, NV - Diamond Peak Ski and Snowboard School is proud to announce they will be having 2 FREE “Seniors Only Clinics”. It is for anyone over 55 years old who may not have had a lesson in years or may have shaped skis. The purpose of these clinics is to show people how to ski more effectively and extend their ski days and years on the snow with new contemporary movement patterns.

The “Seniors Only Clinics” will be held on March 10th and 24th from 10am-12pm. This 2 hour clinic will be one part social, one part educational and three parts fun. Come join us and experience what it feels like to ski like a kid again. Lessons will meet at the Base Lodge in the Fireside room at 9:30am. No reservation required.

Mt. Rose - Ski Tahoe Offers Advanced Life Support Services

Reno, NV - Mt. Rose – Ski Tahoe provides a service for its guests that is truly unique in the Lake Tahoe region…through a cooperative agreement between Mt. Rose, the Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority (REMSA) and North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, the Mt. Rose Ski Patrol is now able to provide paramedic level Advanced Life Support for sick and injured guests. Advanced Life Support (ALS) allows paramedics who work as ski patrollers to perform advanced skills and procedures on patients that normally could only have been done by paramedics on an ambulance or medical helicopter. ALS involves the use of invasive and non-invasive procedures such as cardiac monitoring, pacing and defibrillation, pain management, advanced airway management for respiratory emergencies, intravenous access and the ability to administer numerous emergency medications prior to the arrival of ground or air medical transport.

These skills and procedures can prove to be the difference in the survival of critically injured or sick guests and many can be done while the skier is still on the slopes. There is no charge for this additional service. This program allows paramedics from REMSA or North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District who also are Mt. Rose Ski Patrollers to use their ALS skills, training and experience in contrast to EMT basic skills that are performed by most other patrols in the nation.

Diamond Peak Presents the Burton Jiblet Series

Incline Village, NV- The Burton Jiblet Series at Diamond Peak is a jam style competition for Intermediate/Advanced skiers and snowboarders of all ages to showcase their most awesome trick on our feature. There will be 3 competitions throughout the season with the Burton Invitational on April 3 and 4th for all participants who qualify. The first stop for the Burton Jiblet Series is on January 16th. The competition will take place on special features in front of the Base Lodge deck. The event is open to skiers and snowboarders of intermediate/advanced abilities.

Special features will be made just for the Burton Jiblet. It’ll be a jam-style format with a winner-take-all cash prize for each of the Open divisions in the Burton Invitational. The price of the event is $10. All of the registration money goes into a winner-take-all pot.

Learn a Snow Sport Month

Incline Village, NV - Diamond Peak is joining the national effort of the snow sport industry to promote “Learn a Snow Sport Month.” They are offering programs during January 2010 for children and adults who want to learn a snow sport or who want to improve their skills. This effort is to get family and friends outside in the winter to learn new activities and get some exercise.
Diamond Peak has a Burton Snowboard Learn to Ride Center. They offer Burton’s specially designed snowboards which are softer flexing and easier to turn. Jake Burton Carpenter, founder of Burton snowboards, states in the National Ski Area Association Journal “Through the continued efforts of our Learn to Ride partner resorts, we are seeing increased retention rates for first-time riders, with some resorts reporting retention of up to 80 percent.”
In addition to Diamond Peak’s daily programs they are offering lesson packages for just $29 to learn to ski or ride during the week of January 11-15th. This package includes 1 hour 45 minute group lesson, equipment and beginner lift ticket. Learn to Ski and Burton Ride Week is available for ages 7 and up; lessons start at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. For ages 4-7 group lessons are $70.
