Winter Park, CO - A full day of activities are planned at Winter Park Resort to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, mountain style. Wednesday, March 17, will kick-off at Mary Jane with the Tire Biters Ski Club hosting a ski race to benefit youth ski programs and Winter Park Ski & Ride School will offer the last Gravity Goddess Ski Clinic of the season. After a day on the slopes, guests can make their way to The Village at Winter Park and Derailer Bar for live music and après drink specials.
The informal ski club, Tire Biters Ski Club, will again host their annual fund raiser for youth ski programs with an open Giant Slalom style race and traditional St. Patrick’s Day lunch at Mary Jane. Fee is $25 per person for race entrance and lunch ticket, lift ticket sold separately. Sign-up is from 8am to 10am in the Mary Jane Center cafeteria. Awards will be given in six age classes for the downhill race, from young adult to 70+ years. One of Ski & Ride School’s most popular programs, Gravity Goddess Mid-Week Clinic, is designed specifically for women and taught by Winter Park’s top female instructors. March 17, 2010 is the last clinic of the season for this unique program that will encourage women in a comfortable and supportive environment. Starting with skills analysis, participants will receive individual coaching on style and technique. Clinic fee of $90 includes 6 hours of instruction and lunch at Mary Jane; lift ticket at additional cost. Skiers Only.
After a day enjoying spring skiing and riding, guests can après ski with two live bands and food and drink specials. Gather in Discovery Center in The Village at Winter Park for the lively Irish band Claddagh from 2:30pm to 5:30pm and sit back on the deck of Derailer Bar for live music from 2pm-5pm with acclaimed blues artist, John Nemeth. Claddagh will then play at Cheeky Monk Belgian Beer Café, in the heart of The Village at Winter Park, from 8pm-10pm.
St. Patrick Day specials at Derailer Bar include Car bomb - $7.00; Shot of Jameson - $4.00; Guinness Cans - $6.00; Coors/Coors Light, Old Milwaukee, Keystone Light and PBR – 12oz - cans - $3.00; and Corned Beef and Cabbage with mashers $10.95.
