East Stroudsburg, PA -
Shawnee Mountain Ski Area and the American Cancer Society are working together to increase awareness of cancer prevention and to raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services.
Shawnee Mountain Ski Area will be hosting its annual “Race Against Cancer” on Saturday, February 9, 2013. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Monroe Unit of the American Cancer Society in support of their mission to eliminate cancer. The 2012 event raised over $7,500 last ski season.
Skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels are welcome. The NASTAR race course is set on the Upper Tomahawk Race Trail; an intermediate level run. The race course is open from 10am until approximately 3pm. The cost is $8.00 for 2 runs, or $15.00 for 4 runs on the course. A lift ticket is required.
Non-skiers can get involved and join the Race Against Cancer by purchasing an “In-Honor Of” or “In Memory Of” donation card at the Ski & Snowboard School Desk. Each card will be displayed throughout the base area to show your support. A limited number of Race Gates are also available for businesses and individuals to show their support for this cause on the course.
